I've been in search of a perfect lemon bar... that precise balance of sweet and tangy, creamy and crumbly. Now that I've found the secret, I'll NEVER waste my time with another version again!

Baked Eggnog Donuts

Right after the holidays we still had a bunch of eggnog left over so I thought the best way to use it would be to whip up a quick batch of baked Eggnog Donuts for New Year's morning!  The kids were nuts for them saying "they taste like the Christmas cookies!" Starting off a new year surrounded by smiling faces makes me think a "Christmas Cookie" breakfast was pretty perfect. 

Pumpkin Pecan Quick Bread

No matter what autumn recipe I make, there always seems to be leftover canned pumpkin to be used up. This pumpkin pecan quick bread comes together so quickly, you could even have your kids make it! Bake a few loaves at a time, to give as gifts later. You never know when you'll want to bring a little something sweet for a hostess, sick relative or new neighbor. Everyone loves an edible gift!

Baked Apple Cider Donuts and a Trip to the Apple Farm

In preparation for our first trip to an apple farm, we started our morning with these Baked Apple Cider Donuts! A warm quartet of fall spices like cardamom, nutmeg, cinnamon and clove are a perfect pairing for the cider-sweetened glaze. Healthier than a traditional fried cider donut, these bake up in just minutes! 

Just when you think you've tried them all, here's a dessert bar with a twist! Not only is there tart raspberry jam swirled into the chocolate morsels, but there's a chewy texture too...as if they're made with caramel. The secret is the sweetened condensed milk, melted together with semi-sweet chips! They smell heavenly right out of the oven, but trust me when I say they are even better when refrigerated. That's when all the chewy goodness happens!
